Email Password Change Procedure

BTES recommends changing your email password from the default that was set when your account was created, if you have not already done so.

By using something unique, you can greatly reduce the risk of someone gaining access to your private information.

Do not use your last name, email address, or other obvious information that someone could guess. At a minimum, the password should contain letters and numbers. It always helps to use a special character such as !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, or *. Combinations of letters and numbers with special characters make very strong passwords.

PASSWORDS ARE CASE SENSITIVE. If you use capital letters, you will need to use capital letters whenever you type in your password.

To change your password for your email, follow the steps below:

Go to http://mail.btes.tv in your web browser.

Enter your email address and password, then click Sign In.

Make sure your email address is not unknowingly forwarding to another address. (If a hacker has gained access to your email account, sometimes they will set an address to forward email to so you won't get any email.)

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look in the Forwarding section. Make sure your email address is not forwarded. If the password has been guessed, the malicious user could have set up a forwarding address. If forwarding is enabled, clear out the address in the box and uncheck Enable Forwarding. Go back to the top of the page and click Save again.

email4

Now, go to the bottom left corner and select Sign Out. You will be returned to the sign-in screen. Try your new password to make sure it works.

If you use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or another 3rd party email program, you will need to re-enter your password in that program. It should prompt you for the password the first time you connect after changing it.
