Adam Marchese's Page

For those new to the hobby, Adam Marchese was one of the first to create a fan page for Press Your Luck. It had a page about the rules of the game, sound clips, and many other things one would find on a fan page. But he included one other important page: a list of board configurations used throughout PYL's run. From this list Curt King recreated the boards for his magnificent PC version of Press Your Luck.

Unfortunately, like so many other valuable online resources, the site had to go down. One remnant of his site can be found at www.afn.org/~afn57395/. I can't remember if this was ever a host for his site -- it may only be someone's (incomplete) personal archive of the site. However, thanks to the Wayback Machine, you can see what his home page looked like (without pictures). You can also see for yourself his board configuration list.

Below is a table showing how his list lines up or differs from what I currently have online:

# Title Corresponds to: Notes
1 1983 (Sep.) First Episodes! During R1, Adam shows $400 in [14] where I have $500.
2 Late 1983 (Around Oct/Nov.) R1: Round One Increase
R2: Round Two Increase

3 January '84 R2: Tweak #1
4 February '84 R2: [Footnotes from Tweak #1]
5 March '84 R2: Pick-A-Corner!
6 Late April/Early May '84 R2: The Fate of [10], 2 prizes
7 June '84 (After Larsen) R2: The Fate of [10], 3 prizes
8 September 1984: New Whammies!
9 Late-'84-Early '85 R2: $2000 or Lose-1-Whammy
10 Summer '85 R2: Corner Swaps
11 Sep. '85 Neon Color Change Adam notes that during R1, $750+S was already in [10].
I don't show that change until Dec 13.
He also mentions Add-A-One's debut, which I have under Early Color Tweaks.
$2000/W Disappearance is mentioned in passing.
12 Around Nov. '85 R1: Fate of [10], Revisited The only change mentioned is Add-A-One moving from [5] to [7].
13 About Feb. '86 R1: [Footnote from Fate of [10], Revisited]
R2: Across-the-Board
It gets more confusing here:
He shows [7] with 2 Whammies during R2 for a long time.
I have [10] going back to cash values in R2 at this point.
14 Spring '86 R1: [Footnote from Fate of [10], Revisited]
R2: Fate of [10], Revisited and
Value Decrease
R1: [7] has reverted to $470/Add-A-One/Whammy.
Adam also mentions that [13] had 500/750/750 for about 2 days.
R2: We're catching up with changes.
15 Late Summer '86 R2: Values Increase (a bit)
16 Toward the end of the run R2: Final Board No mention of the footnote.

Jim Balcerek's Page

While Adam's site was down, there was no online resource for board configurations. Recently, however, two PYL fans came to the rescue: Jason Wuthrich -- whose site was the first (that I know of) to represent the board using HTML tables -- and Jim Balcerek. He was working on putting together a "slide mod" for Curt King's Windows version of PYL, and needed a board configuration list that included colors and Whammy poses. With some help he got that and much, much more, and it is his list that provided most of the data I used to make the PYL pages on this site.
